The Performing Arts Department offers Dance (Indian Classical and Western), Theatre and Music. Indian Classical Vocal music is taught along with instruments like Harmonium, Tabla and Sitar.
Western Vocal and Instrumental Music is immensely popular at our School. Instruments like Keyboards, Guitar and a wide range of Drums (Acoustic, Virtual, Congo and Octapad) are taught and learnt with great interest.
Girls are trained to appear for examinations at various levels organized by Trinity College, London - an examinations board based in London, England, offering graded and diploma qualifications (up to postgraduate level) across a range of disciplines in the Performing Arts. Additionally, our girls also appear for Prayag Sangeet Samiti (a recognized university for Indian Classical Music) for diploma examinations.
Ample opportunities to learn Indian Classical and Western Dance are provided at the School. Folk dance traditions are passed down through generations across different cultures to celebrate important occasions in our lives. These skills are enthusiastically taught and learnt at UWS.
The Performing Arts Department also coordinates with “SPIC MACAY” (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth) and organizes performances of various eminent artists at school. As the SPIC MACAY slogan, ‘Have every child experience the inspiration and mysticism embodied in Indian and World heritage,’ says it all, we also endeavour to steer the inner strength and interest of our girls towards long-established Indian culture.
