Sport & lifeskills
Sport and Lifeskills have much to teach us, from teamwork and leadership to determination and tactics. They teach us how to be magnanimous in victory and gracious in defeat, the importance of practice, and the never-ending quest for improvement.
Sports & Life Skills

Development from sport goes beyond learning new physical skills. Sport helps children develop better ways to cope with the highs and lows of life. Children learn to bounce back from disappointment, cope with unpleasant experiences and become more resilient to face the uncertainties of life. Playing sport regularly improves children’s overall emotional wellbeing, too.
At Unison World School, life skill development through organized sports activities is an integral part of a student’s daily routine, whereby every student is encouraged to join at least one sports discipline. We believe in mass participation, exposing our students to a number of sporting events at the School, inter-school/district, zonal, regional, state, national and international levels.

The School offers opportunities to students to excel in close to 15 different disciplines where the child is trained by a number of dedicated coaches. The disciplines currently offered are: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Football, Field Hockey, Judo, Shooting, Speed Skating and Roller Hockey, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Volleyball & Yoga. Swimming is not only a rewarding sport but also a survival skill. We lay special emphasis on this skill and all students are encouraged to enroll for the same.
We, at UWS, have a unique system of continuously monitoring our students’ overall fitness profile. The students are mapped across seven basic elements of fitness, viz. Speed, Strength, Cardiovascular Endurance, Power of Hands, Power of Legs, Agility and Flexibility against the internationally established norms and progress is monitored through objective feedback provided twice a year. The profiling is age specific, and not a ‘run of the mill’ fitness report. It is scientific and meaningful, showing the fitness level of a child at a glance.
During each academic session, the School holds Inter House Sports Competitions in more than 20 organized sports events, including Kho-Kho, Handball, Triathlon, Cross Country and March Past. The four Houses compete vigorously for overall Sports Trophy awarded during the Annual Sports Meet ‘SPARDHA’ held every year. Care is taken to ensure that each student steps out to play for her respective House in one or the other event.
Students are sent to participate in numerous sports tournaments across the city, state and country. Students also get opportunities to participate in SGFI Nationals through CISCE teams (ICSE Schools Group). The School takes pride in conducting inter school sports events in several disciplines.
International Exposure in Sports
In the sports discipline where the students excel at the national level competitions, platform is provided for participation at international tournaments, too. Rifle and Pistol Shooting is our strength and our girls have done us proud by representing our country on various platforms in Germany and the Czech Republic.
“Gold medals aren’t really made of gold. They’re made of sweat, determination, and a hard to find alloy called guts.”
